Below are a few portraits that I have done on the Mirrix Loom. I send the original picture I want to bead to http://www.crossstitch.com/photo, and they send me back a pattern. I match up the DMC thread colors to my Delica bead colors. Below are examples of my work.
This is my nephew, Jayden John Singer. He was 3 1/2 years old when in 2004 he contracted a severe form of bacterial meningitis. He spent 3 weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Care in Paterson, NJ. While there, he endured a coma, 2 strokes, seizures, near total paralysis, kidney failure and potential brain damage. He was on a ventilator for 10 days. After intensive care, he was transferred to Childrens Specialized Hospital in Mountainside for rehabilitation. He had severe hearing loss, speech and learning disabilities and partial paralysis of his right side, an aftereffect of the stroke. Jayden had to relearn everything; how to swallow, speak, hear, move and walk. In September of 2004 he was released from the hospital. He is making great strides in his recovery. He is currently back home with his parents and proves, every day, to be an inspiration to the people around him.
This is Jessica, a family friend. She died in a tragic motor vehicle accident the day after her 19th birthday. I was proud to bead this picture of her for her family.
